1. Pearls & Peonies

This is your classic vintage bridal shower theme. Draped pearl strings, organza tablecloths, heart shaped sandwiches, rose gold metallic balloons, flowers floating in vintage china teacups, and pink chocolate covered strawberries. Hang peonies from curtain railings using peach ribbon, make your own edible flower ice cubes, sprinkle edible glitter over cupcakes and this is your ultimate vintage floral affair.

2. Chanel Theme

My sister organised a surprise bridal shower for me with this theme and the attention to detail was impeccable. From a Chanel cake, to all my favourite finger foods. She had bought small square vases, stuck a Chanel label on each, placed water and flowers inside the vase and added a hint of pink colouring to the water to give a perfume bottle effect. Empty Chanel boxes were scattered around as decor along with strings of white pearls. Lastly she created a perfume station; Having researched all the ingredients present in Chanel perfumes, she bought each essence and asked guests to mix drops of their choice in a vial to take home with them as a favour!

3. Upside Down

Is the Bride-to-be a little crazy? Eccentric? Unconventional? This could be the one for her. Essentially you do everything upside down. Serve dessert first and starters last. Place a vase upside down on top of flowers as a centrepiece. Serve upside down cakes for dessert. Maybe even make upside down individual no bake cheesecakes? Hang photos of the bride upside down. If you’re feeling really extravagant you could even explore the new trend of hanging upside down wedding cakes!

4. Make Up & Cosmetics Afternoon Tea

Is the bride-to-be obsessed with cosmetics? Why not throw a make-up themed afternoon tea? Find out all her favourite products and design the food based on those e.g. pastries shaped like eyeshadow palettes, rolls which look like lipsticks, cakes which look like shimmer bricks. If you’re confused about what I mean, check out the latest afternoon tea happening in London where Bobbi Brown have teamed up with Balthazar to celebrate their brand’s 25th anniversary!

5. Nikes & Skittles

This one’s for the tomboys. Not everyone is a girly girl but that’s the image all bridal showers seem to have. Has anyone ever considered that pastels, vintage and floral might not be for everyone? The bridal shower should be about the bride. If the bride-to-be loves sports and sports wear, why not create a bridal shower with that theme in mind? Don’t forget, the event is about the bride so always pick a theme which you know they’ll love!

There’s so much you can do here. Make invitations which look like tickets to a sports game. Ask everyone to come wearing their Nikes or trainers. Keep the theme multicoloured (think Skittles colours and Nikes). Have streamers and sweets scattered around. Have sports themed centrepieces and why not even make some football and basketball cake pops as favours.

6. Arabian Nights

A day time affair or an elegant evening event. If any of you remember the TV show ‘CRIBS’ I’m thinking Beyoncé’s bedroom decor from back in the day. Jewel colours, sarees draped around the room, multi-coloured floor cushions; it’s actually very easy to create this theme. Maybe bring in some colourful shishas (for decor or use, it’s your own personal preference). You can even buy cheap belly dancing belts on eBay for all your guests. Make an arabic music playlist on Spotify and you’re all good to go!
